KNX Energy Management with KNX Classic and KNX IoT and relation to the EN50491-12-2 standard

Energy Management has been around for many years, at least realized with KNX. The presentation will provide technical details on how energy management is typically realized today with KNX Classic, after which the speaker will give an insight into the objectives of the EN 50491-12-2 standard, which hopes to standardize energy flexibilities between a central customer energy manager and devices or systems in a home or building. While explaining the EN50491-12-2, it will be clarified how these concepts could be realized with traditional KNX system features, with forthcoming KNX IoT features and how the current and future KNX devices will then interact.

KNX connectivity for HVAC applications via Modbus

Many HVAC devices offer a Modbus Interface. To connect such devices to a KNX installation, a KNX to Modbus Gateway is required. The KNX Modbus RTU Gateway 886 from Weinzierl allows a connection via RTU protocol (RS-485) while the new KNX Modbus TCP Gateway 716 offers a TCP/IP link.
The session shows how to easily connect Modbus devices to KNX. It shows how KNX group objects can be mapped to Modbus Registers.
